ပထမဆံုး တင္ဆက္ျခင္း

    လြန္ခဲ့တဲ့ ဆယ့္တစ္ႏွစ္ေလာက္ ၂၀၀၂-၀၃ တုန္းက ရန္ကုန္တကၠသိုလ္ကို စေရာက္ေရာက္ခ်င္း ႏွစ္မွာပဲ ပရိသတ္ေရွ႕မွာ ေဟာေျပာတင္ဆက္ျခင္းကို ဘာသာရပ္တစ္ခုအေနနဲ႕ သင္ခဲ့ရပါတယ္။ အဂၤလိပ္စာဌာနက တီခ်ယ္ေဒၚပိုးပိုး တီခ်ယ္ေဒၚခင္မာေ၀ နဲ႕ ေဒၚလြင္လြင္စိုးတို႕ သင္ေပးခဲ့တာပါ။ ခုေတာ့ တီခ်ယ္ေတြလည္း ပါေမာကၡခ်ဳပ္ေတြ ပါေမာကၡေတြေတာင္ ျဖစ္ေနၾကပါၿပီ။ အဲသည္တုန္းက ေဟာေျပာတင္ဆက္ပံုကို သင္တဲ့ေနရာမွာ ကိုယ္တင္ဆက္မယ့္ ဘာသာရပ္ အေၾကာင္းအရာကို ဘယ္လိုပိုင္းျခားတင္ျပရမလဲ ဆိုတာက စၿပီး စကားေလသံ အသံုးအနွဳန္း ကိုယ္ဟန္လက္ဟန္ မ်က္လံုးအၾကည့္ ေတြတင္မက ကိုယ္သံုးမယ့္ အေထာက္အကူ ပစၥည္း (အဲသည္တုန္းက စၿပီး ကြန္ျပဴတာ ပါ၀ါပြိဳင့္ကို သံုးခြင့္ၾကံဳခဲ့တာ) ကို ဘယ္လို ထိထိေရာက္ေရာက္ သံုးသင့္သလဲဆိုတာေတြ အျပင္ ပရိသတ္ရဲ႕ ေမးခြန္းေတြကို ဘယ္လိုေမးရင္ ဘယ္လို တုန္႕ျပန္သင့္သလဲ ဆိုတာေတြအထိ အေသးစိတ္ကို သင္ျပေပးခဲ့တာ နာယူခဲ့ရပါတယ္။ အဲသည္အခ်ိိန္ကစလို႕ ရန္ကုန္တကၠသိုလ္မွာ သံုးႏွစ္တာလံုး ေနာက္ ေက်ာင္းၿပီးေတာ့ ထပ္တက္ရတဲ့ သင္တန္းေတြမွာပါ ပရိသတ္ေရွ႕ ေဟာေျပာတင္ဆက္ျခင္းပညာကို ေကာင္းေကာင္း အသံုးခ်ခြင့္ ၾကံဳခဲ့ရပါတယ္။ ျမန္မာျပည္မွာ လာဖြင့္တဲ့ ကုလသမဂၢသင္တန္း၊ စကၤာပူက လာသင္ေပးတဲ့ အဂၤလိပ္စာသင္တန္း၊ အေမရိကန္ ဂြ်န္ေဟာ့ကင္းတကၠသိုလ္က လာဖြင့္တဲ့ အိုင္အာ သင္တန္းေတြမွာလည္း ဒီပညာေၾကာင့္ ပြဲလယ္တင့္ခဲ့ရပါတယ္။ ပထမဆံုး ျပည္ပ အေတြ႕အၾကံဳကေတာ့ အိႏၵိယႏိုင္ငံမွာ အဂၤလိပ္စာသင္တန္း သြားတက္တုန္းက ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံအေၾကာင္း ေဟာေျပာ တင္ဆက္ခဲ့ရတာပါ။ ႏိုင္ငံတကာ ေက်ာင္းသားေတြ ေရွ႕မွာ ဆိုေပမယ့္ ကိုယ့္ႏိုင္ငံအေၾကာင္းဆိုေတာ့ အေၾကာင္းအရာက ပိုင္ၿပီးသားမို႕ သိပ္ၿပီး စိတ္မလွဳပ္ရွားခဲ့ရပါဘူး။

အေၾကြေစ့ေလး ႏွစ္ေစ့

    ဗိုလ္ေကာင္းရဲ႕ အိုင္ယူေဂ် သမိုင္းေၾကာင္းကို ေျပာမယ္ဆိုရင္ ဒီပံုထဲမွာ ပါတဲ့ အေၾကြေစ့ေလး ႏွစ္ေစ့ကို ခ်န္ခဲ့လို႕ ျဖစ္မယ္ မထင္ပါဘူး။ ဘာျဖစ္လို႕လဲ ဆိုေတာ့ အိုင္ယူေဂ်မွာ ဗိုလ္ေကာင္း ပထမဆံုး ရဖူးတဲ့ ဆု ျဖစ္လို႕ပါပဲ။ ထုိက္တန္တယ္ မထုိက္တန္ဘူး အျငင္းမပြားၾကဘူး ဆိုရင္ျဖင့္ ဒီအေၾကြေစ့ေလး ႏွစ္ေစ့ကို ဆုအျဖစ္ ဘယ္လို ရခဲ့သလဲ ဆိုတာ ေျပာျပခ်င္သားပါ။
    ၿပီးခဲ့တဲ့ ေအာက္တိုဘာလ ၂၂ ရက္ ဗုဒၶဟူးေန႕ ညေနပိုင္းက စာၾကည့္တိုက္ အေပၚထပ္မွာ GSIR Happy Hour လုပ္ပါတယ္။ ေက်ာင္းသားေတြအခ်င္းခ်င္း ဆရာေတြနဲ႕ ေက်ာင္းသားေတြ ရင္းႏွီးေႏြးေထြး ၾကပါေစေတာ့ဆိုတဲ့ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္နဲ႕ လုပ္တယ္လို႕ သိရပါတယ္။ IR Dean ဦးစီးတက္ေရာက္တဲ့ ဒီပြဲမွာ အိုင္အာေက်ာင္းသား ဗိုလ္ေကာင္းလည္း တစ္ျခား ႏိုင္ငံစံုက သူငယ္ခ်င္းေတြ စီနီယာေတြနဲ႕အတူ တက္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ေပ်ာ္စရာ ဂိမ္းအစီအစဥ္လည္း ပါတယ္ေပါ့ဗ်ာ။ ေအာက္က စာရြက္ထဲမွာ ေရးထားတဲ့ အေၾကာင္းအရာကို တစ္ေယာက္နဲ႕ တစ္ေယာက္ ေမးၾက ျဖည့္ၾကေပါ့။ ပထမဆံုး ျဖည့္ၿပီးတဲ့သူက ဆုရတယ္ေပါ့ဗ်ာ။ ဗိုလ္ေကာင္းက ပထမဆံုး ျဖည့္ၿပီးတဲ့သူေတာ့ မဟုတ္ပါဘူး။ သူငယ္ခ်င္းတစ္ေယာက္က လာေမးလို႕ နားေအးၿပီးေရာ ေျဖလိုက္တာပါ။ ေမးခြန္းက ဒီအစီအစဥ္ၿပီးရင္တဲ့ ဟာသေျပာမွာလားတဲ့ ။ နားေအးတာပဲကြာ ဆိုၿပီး ေအး လို႕ ေျဖလိုက္တယ္။ ဘယ္သူကမွလည္း ဟာသေျပာခိုင္းမယ္လို႕ ထင္မထားဘူးေလ။ ေဟာ ပထမဆံုး စာရြက္အပ္ႏိုင္တဲ့ သံုးေယာက္ကို ေမးခြန္းေတြလည္း ေမးၿပီးသြားေရာ ေကာင္း ဟာသေျပာရန္ ၾကြပါတဲ့။ ( ျမတ္စြာဘုရား ) ဟာသေျပာမယ္လို႕ ေျပာလိုက္တာ တကယ္မဟုတ္ဘူးဆိုတာ သူတို႕ ယံုေအာင္ ဘယ္လို ေျပာရပါ့။ ဒါနဲ႕ပဲ ဖိတ္ေခၚေတာ့လည္း သြားရတာေပါ့။ စကားေျပာစင္ေရာက္ေတာ့ အက်ိဳးအေၾကာင္း ေျပာျပရတယ္။ ကြ်န္ေတာ္ ခုနက သူငယ္ခ်င္းတစ္ေယာက္ကေမးေတာ့ နားေအးၿပီးေရာ ေျဖလိုက္မိတာပါလို႕။ တကယ္လည္း ဟာသ မေျပာတတ္ပါဘူးလို႕။ ဒါေပမယ့္ မရပါဘူး။ ဒီေမးခြန္း ေျဖတဲ့သူကို ဆုေပးမယ္လို႕ နဂိုကတည္းက ရည္မွန္းထားလား မသိပါဘူး။
ညေနက GSIR Council က ေက်ာင္းသူေလးတစ္ေယာက္ ဖုန္းဆက္လာပါတယ္။ ေကာင္း အခန္းမွာ ရွိသလားတဲ့။ ရွိပါတယ္ေပါ့။ ေစာင့္ေနေပးပါတဲ့ ဟိုတစ္ေန႕က ဟာသေျပာတဲ့ဆု လာေပးပါမယ္တဲ့။ ခဏေနေတာ့ ေရာက္လာေရာ။ ဖိလစ္ပိုင္က မာစီဆိုတဲ့ ေက်ာင္းသူေလး။ ယန္းႏွစ္ရာကို လက္မွတ္ေတြဘာေတြထိုးၿပီး လက္ခံလိုက္ရတာ။ သူ႕ကိုလည္း အခန္းထဲမွာ ခ်ိတ္ထားတဲ့ ျမန္မာျပည္က ယူလာတဲ့ ႏွစ္ပါးသြား ကေနတဲ့ ကားခ်ပ္ေလး လက္ေဆာင္ ျပန္ေပးလိုက္တယ္။

The Hakkai-san Fire Walking Festival takes place twice a year in spring and autumn, at two different shrines at the start of the hiking routes up Mount Hakkai. The autumn festival is always held on October 20th at the Hakkai Shrine. Groups from all over Japan come to the festival to walk across hot coals to ensure health and prosperity.

The shrine is a really nice place at the foot of Mount Hakkai with a main shrine sitting on a slope, and a smaller shrine set in the cedar forest next to a small waterfall (under which devotees shower in mid-winter at another event!)

The festival takes place on a large open space in front of the main shrine. Fireworks announce the start of the festival at 11am. There is about an hour of praying and offerings from priests in religious costume, and local dignitaries before the fire makes its way down the 88 steps from the main shrine to the big bonfire. This quickly catches and gives off an impressive amount of heat that drives the crowds back. The hot coals are raked and then the action begins. The priests cross first followed by groups of devotees. Everyone else is allowed to cross after that. Young children, the elderly and the infirm all line up to cross and receive their blessings.

City Office

The first thing we are to do when we check in a new address is going to the city office for registering our residence. The public service procedure and system is amazingly smooth and efficient. The city office staff warmly welcomes the guest and gives necessary support willingly. There is an English-speaking staff for non-Japanese speakers. Every guest is treated very attentively. There is also enough space and furniture for the convenience of the visitors, and the paper-work procedure is surprisingly simple. I found no unpleasant red-tape at all.

In my country we can expect such customer-care from a very good private bank which is well-known with a good reputation of their customer service (but I am not sure whether you will be treated well every time)

Group Work

FPA (Foreign Policy Analysis) class was one of the most challenging courses for everyone of us in the Fall Term of my first year student life in IUJ. We even did not know how to read an academic article properly, and it led to misunderstanding and misinterpretation of what the author wanted to argue. Although we collectively tried to digest the reading material, none of us could suggest a good way to deal with it. Even knowing every single word and each sentence of the article did not help understand the whole work of the author. Later, we got an idea to share the burden among the colleagues and assigned each of us to read a particular article, but it still was not workable. After getting over the failure of our attempt for several times, we came to know how to improve our way of reading.

Fresher Welcome

Every single fresher’s name was called out and requested to show up. It was the welcome ceremony. The sponsor organizations were also invited to attend. The Chairman, the President, the city councilman gave their welcoming speeches and the Deans of the school introduced the professors to the students. The talk show was followed by a chaotic situation where almost everyone wanted to take pictures on the stage or before it. Organizing a group photo session of the nation was very challenging.
